Mangrove Lagoon

Sand Bank
Menai bay has
several naturally occurring sandbanks with safe swimming and from
where you can enjoy great snorkelling. Relax under the shade and
enjoy fresh coconuts and local snacks in paradise. |
Baobab
Tree
Climb our unique and
ancient baobab tree and get a great view from the top! If you are
lucky you can find massive coconut crabs living inside its hollow

The Seafood
Lunch
Taste the flavours of
Zanzibar at our desert island restaurant on Kwale island. The
legendary Safari Blue seafood barbecue includes fish, calamari and
slipper lobster served hot from the grill. Then enjoy a tropical
fruit tasting – a gastronomic delight! “Chakula Chema”! Small
groups of up to 10 pax can now reserve our “Dhow Diner” and enjoy

Safari Blue
Dhows
Our traditional dhows are
hand crafted from African mahogany. Safari Blue dhows are well
maintained, comfortable and equipped with outboard engine,
communication equipment, sunshade, boarding ladder, gas inflatable
life jackets, waterproof bags and drinks cooler. We also have
public liability and marine insurance. |

Special groups/Private
charter
Safari
Blue can arrange your wedding ceremony or a party to celebrate any
special occasion. Charter one or more of our dhows with crew and
we will arrange the Safari Blue just for you. We can
accommodate groups of up to 125 pax and Safari Blue can be tailor
made with a range of extras. Safari Blue has more than 10 years
experience of handling corporate groups and their sometimes
unusual requests! Some of the incentive groups we have worked with
include Toyota, Land Rover, BMW, HP Presidents Club, Motorola,
Siemens, Barclays Bank, Bayer.

Mission
Statement
To provide a high quality
product with minimum impact on the environment using the best
Zanzibar has to offer - beautiful beaches, crystal clear sea,
Swahili tradition, warm hospitality and good fresh food.
Safari Blue has more than 90
Zanzibari staff. About 70 staff are from Fumba village and many of
them were previously subsistence fishermen. Safari Blue is owned
and personally managed by Eleanor Griplas, the only non-Zanzibari
member of staff! |
In addition to creating
worthwhile employment and training, Safari Blue helps with the
following projects:-
• Building a nursery school in
Fumba • Monthly contributions to the Village Progress
Committee • Safari Blue trips for school children many of whom
have never swum in the sea • Sponsorship of a student from Fumba
studying for a BA degree at The University of Zanzibar •
Installation of electricity in parts of the village • Road
improvements in Fumba • Construction of a mosque on Kwale
island • Donation of medicines for local clinic
